At Finchley Road Shul, there is a large hall with its own kitchen, refurbished in 2006. It caters for weddings, barmitzvahs and other celebratory functions as well as being a popular location for meetings, social and charity functions such as talks, quizzes, dinner-dancing etc. The community has its own Kashrut Commission under the supervision of Rabbi Bar and administered by Sandra Symons.  We also have a licensed caterer.

FOOD

There are several large well-known supermarkets selling a wide range of Israeli, British and continental kosher products, including packaged meats.

In a seaside town it would be surprising if there wasn’t a wide range of fish available and, although there is no fishmonger under the supervision of the Kashrut Commission, there is a fishmonger situated in the London Road near Hamlet Court Road who is prepared to cut and fillet the fish for you, using your own board and knife. They also have a good knowledge of Kashrut. It is advisable to introduce yourself first to the fishmonger. Alternatively locally caught wet fish are readily available for preparation at home.

Although the town no longer has a kosher butcher, the Ilford butchers frequently deliver direct to customers.  Ilford is just under an hours drive from here, where there are a variety of kosher butchers, delicatessens and bakers. Alternatively, just over an hours drive away you can visit Golders Green or Edgware shopping centres. You could incorporate your shopping trip with a meal by having a meal in the many café’s or restaurants.
