The Coleman and Lilian Levene Talmud Torah is one of the largest provincial Chedarim in the country  The Cheder is an integral and essential part of the community providing Jewish education up to Bar/Bat Mitzvah age, including Bar Mitzvah lessons. Attendance is free to children of synagogue members. Regular highlights of the Cheder year are the Annual Prize-Giving (guests of honour have included Mrs. Elaine Sacks, Lady Jacobovits, and Clive Lawton), the Demonstration Seder, the Chanukah Service, Succoth, Lunch in the Shul Succah and the Annual Fancy Dress Purim Party.

Teaching techniques in the Cheder are continually being modernised. New apparatus including the audio-visual and computer equipment are available so that the Cheder may compete for the children's attention and interest with the type of education now received in secular schools under the guidance of Mr Wilkinson, our head teacher.
