Southend Kosher Meals on Wheels is an organisation that delivers meals to the infirm and elderly Jewish residents in the Southend area. This is a voluntary organisation which is run for the community with no profit ideals. Whilst delivering these meals social contact is also provided. They now deliver about 100 meals per week since the organisation began in 1970 only delivering 24 meals per week. Meals consist of a main course with vegetables and are either delivered hot or frozen (to be cooked by the recipient when required). Southend Kosher Meals on Wheels deliver these meals on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtime, 52 weeks a year. This is a very extensive menu available with meat, poultry and fish meals always kept in stock. The meals are supplied by Hermolis Kosher Food Specialist, who are famous for strictly Kosher airline meals around the world.
