The Jewish Association
For Mentally Ill was established in 1989, by a group of parents, relatives
and friends of those suffering from mental illness - those who know perhaps
better than anyone else how much damage and anguish these terrible
conditions inflict. The staff and volunteers are committed to providing help, of a high quality,
embodying the culture and values of Jewish society, to sufferers, their
careers and families wherever they can. The Southend branch, which call
themselves ''Back To Life'' was formed by Julie and Arnold Baum, to help the
purchase of equipment and running costs for 'JAMI House'. A large
contribution was given to JAMI to help with their new residential
home in Golders Green, London, named after their late treasurer, Jack
Gardner.
