BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Emunah is a charitable organisation. The proceeds from the various functions and gatherings of members during the year go towards building homes for the children in Israel.  The hard working committee hopes that their work will lead towards a more peaceful Israel. The society is one for Ladies, although husbands are always welcome to become associate members.  The purpose of this organisation is to alleviate the despair of the homeless and poverty stricken Jewish people who come to Israel from all over the world in the best ways available.  Attention is focused on young children who have been made refugees from their homeland due to war or anti-Semitism and children who have been abandoned by their parents or orphaned because of the continued war against Israel.

The main project for us in Southend is for the home Nevy Landy; a home where severely damaged children from all sides of the religious spectrum can be placed, they can do no harm to themselves or others and where, through love and specialist attention, they can begin to heal. The staff like to treat these boys as individuals and each boy when they come up to their Barmitzvah have their own special day. This is where we come in; we raise money to make this possible. This makes the children feel unique and loved and gives the boys a sense of pride. They then go on to be citizens to be proud off.

We also support the other Emunah homes in Israel.  The committee knows that however hard we work to achieve our aims, we would not be able to raise the money so desperately needed without the support of the community
