The Council of Christians and Jews was founded during WWII as a reaction to the anti-Semitism and the Holocaust, which was directly resulted.  The Council brings together the Christian and Jewish communities in Britain in a common effort to fight prejudice, discrimination and intolerance between people of different faiths.
The Council is a registered charity and is neither a political nor a missionary organization.  The Southend and District branch is a dynamic one and our membership encompasses all shades of Christian and Jewish beliefs.  We meet from time to time in a social and cultural atmosphere and have a reputation for interesting and stimulating speakers and special events.
