The Southend & District Branch AJEX- Association of Jewish Ex-Service Men and Women is one of the most active branches of AJEX. They welcome all Ex-Service Men and Women as members. The branch has a most successful weekly social club that meets every Thursday evening at the Finchley Road Synagogue Communal Hall. The activities include live music, dancing, cards, quizzes, games, cultural lectures, etc. If you just enjoy a good friendly chat its a good place to be. A programme for coach outings, in this country or abroad, are arranged throughout the year at extremely low cost and they always sell out very quickly. The Annual Remembrance Banquet & Ball is always very well attended and in addition we hold regular functions and dances. They also run a yearly Sweepstake Raffle with many money prizes. AJEX also have a team which does regular hospital visiting and holds regular outings for the elderly and disabled.
